Having a bit of a 'Groundhog Day' today! Started back properly into our 'term-time' routine and I'd forgotten how much prompting dd and ds need - all the time lol!!  Every single day. ALL THE TIME!  You would think an 8 year old and a 7 year old could maybe, I dunno, get dressed?  Actually brush their teeth in their own actual mouths (rather than appearing to have 'brushed' the bathroom floor, door, walls etc).  Maybe (just maybe) have a wash?  Or even, go to the loo (when their body is clearly telling them to!).  Hmmmm, what else have I been lamenting over today............maybe not dressing like it's summer when it's winter (and vice versa), being able to pour liquid in to a beaker or container of some kind, actually then manage to drink some of said liquid without it being up nose, on floor, poured all down the front of oneself..... or maybe eat some kind of food regardless of what it looks/ smells/ feels like.

But of course not, because where there are sensory issues (autism or otherwise) we start at the beginning again every single day.  We are not (at present) able learn from the cause and effect of yesterday, or the day, week, month or even year before.  We could probably recite the English dictionary to you (dd) or build you a real flying rocket (ds) but no we absolutely cannot put on a pair of socks or put food actually into our mouths :-)

But they have so much charm, originality, curiosity and general loveliness, it's a Groundhog day I can bear :-)

Even so, kinda feels like it's gonna be a looooooong day today xx
